Burys Historic
Quarter
The store at 27/28 Abbeygate Street is situated in the Historic Core of Bury St Edmunds, just a few metres from Angel Hill, one of the finest Georgian squares in the country.
In the middle ages Bury St Edmunds played host to a number of English Parliaments. The Magna Carta was drafted here in the early 13th Century under the stewardship of King John.
The town was at the heart of the East Anglian cloth trade during this period, with Bury’s merchants establishing export markets for the 'fine draperies' woven in nearby Lavenham.
The pride we have in our heritage is clearly demonstrated by the 'Suffolk...England' labels carried by our unique 'own label' collection.
